Homemade Doggie Treats:: Frosty Paws

I wanted to share this oh-so-easy recipe for homemade dog treats that my boys just go crazy for! Maybe it’s just me but I feel like the typical dog biscuit treat would get old fast. (Not like they don’t get my scraps almost every night after dinner :p)

Most dog treat recipes call for odd ingredients, like dry milk, that you typically would have to go out and get. That’s one thing I love about these treats — the ingredients are ones that I usually have in my house all the time!

1 banana

2 tbls creamy peanut butter

2 tbls honey

2 or 3 6oz. yogurt cups — this is where you can get creative. I usually use vanilla but one time, all I had was strawberry and mixed berry so I made them with that and they loved those as well!

Blend ingredients together in a bowl, and I like to use a melon baller to scoop them into a mini cupcake pan. (If you don’t have a mini cupcake pan then you could use ice cube trays.) Then freeze overnight, pop out with a knife and store them in the freezer! I usually bag about 5-6 treats per baggie. Brody comes running when he hears the freezer and a zip-lock baggie opening!

PS. Don’t forget to let your furry one lick the beaters ;)

I’m going to be making more treats this week for Alf’s birthday on Friday so stay tuned and follow me on Twitter (@chelsrose) for new posts!

UPDATE: I just wanted to add a quick note. Alf, my Bull Terrier, loves these but for some reason he didn’t like chewing them (I guess because they’re cold?). As a result, he kept choking on them and coughing them back up lol. (I know it’s really not funny that he chokes but he’s fine). All my other dogs, Brody (shown above) and my brothers labradoodles eat them just fine. Anyways, just make sure you watch your dog eat them for the first time to be certain they can eat them safely. Alf is weird ;)
